Apple’s iOS 14.5 update and what you need to do to make sure your Facebook ads keep running

The update is here, are you prepared? 

First of all let’s quickly look at what is happening. In the next iOS update Apple are introducing ATT – App Tracking Transparency. This means that users will now have the option to ‘opt out’ of tracking on an iOS device. It also means that ad performance and reporting will change as less data will be sent to Facebook.

What you need to do now.

First step is to add and verify your domain in your Facebook Business Manager. Follow the steps below to do this:

1 >> Open Business Settings

2 >> Go to Brand Safety > Domains

3 >> Click on the blue ‘Add’ button and enter your URL.

4 >> Confirm ownership of your domain by one of the following 3 options. I’ve found the Meta Tag Verification the easiest to do [edit – you may need your developer to assist with this bit.]

DNS – Add a DNS TXT record to your domain host to prove that you own the domain.

HTML – Upload an HTML verification file to your website

Meta Tag Verification – Upload an HTML verification file to your website

5 >> Come back and click ‘Verify’. You’ll get a message saying it’s verified and when you refresh the page the red dot next to your domain name will be green.

Next step is to set up your Aggregated Events. Previously you could have any number of events and conversions set up on your website but now it has been reduced to only 8. To set this up go to your Pixel view in Events Manager and follow these steps.
